Is the Fargo HDP5000 Printer and its Supplies Discontinued?

As part of our commitment to streamline our product offerings and enhance our portfolio, HID Global has begun the process of discontinuing the HID Fargo HDP5000 card printer. The recommended replacement is the new HID Fargo HDP5000e!
Timeframe for Discontinued Configurations:
- All HDP5000 printer configurations without lamination are discontinued effective immediately.
- All HDP5000 printer configurations with lamination will be discontinued on December 31, 2024. After this end-of-life (EOL) date, the HDP5000 will no longer be available for purchase. However, HID Global will continue to support the printer for three years post-EOL, ensuring service until at least December 31, 2027.
Please be aware that HDP5000 consumables will no longer be available for purchase after December 31, 2024, and will be replaced by the newly introduced HDP5K Sync consumables. All HDP5000 users are required to transition to HDP5K Sync consumables by December 31, 2024.
HDP5K SYNC Consumables:
The new HDP5K SYNC consumables are designed to work with all HDP5000 series printers. This includes compatibility with:
- HDP5000e (new model)
- Legacy HDP5000 (older models)
- HDP5600 (higher-end model)
Printer Updates and Consumables:
- Printers built after 2018 can use the HDP5K SYNC materials without any software update.
- Printers built before 2018 will need a software update if they haven't been updated in the past six years.
- The consumables from older HDP5600 models are now converted to HDP5K SYNC versions.
- All HDP5K SYNC consumables are readily available from Groove Identification Solutions and work with all older HDP5000 printers.
- Standard and custom over-laminates will continue to work with the HDP5000e without any part number change.
