Screen Covid Temperatures with Email Alerts or Real-Time Monitoring

The pandemic is challenging already stretched resources with new tasks like temperature screening. Find out how the Touchless FTC1000 Fever/Temperature Screening Kiosk can do the work for you while alerting your team of abnormal events wherever you station them.

Back in the spring, when we first started hearing about the pandemic, we all thought it would be a temporary setback. We’d have to stay home and be careful about things like hand washing and wearing a mask for a few weeks, and then we’d get back to normal.

It’s been about eight months now since governments started imposing lockdown measures, and there’s no end in sight. Every ten people who contract Covid pass it on to fourteen others, and so on, and so on.

The other day, here in Ontario, the number of new cases reached a record high. It wasn’t just a recent record. It was the most novel cases we’ve seen in one day since the pandemic measures started. Similar statistics are cropping up all over North America.

Covid-19 has been tough on building security teams. It’s challenged them with new threats to screen for, like physical distancing, fevers and mask-wearing.

Simultaneously, it’s made it harder to keep the security team members safe and healthy. Supervisors are usually working remotely as part of social distancing, and they’re often short-staffed.

Everyone Faces Doing More with Less

Everyone faces doing more with less. Often, the best way to support this is with automation.

One of our most popular products for coping with coronavirus challenges is the Touchless FTC1000 Fever/Temperature Screening Kiosk from CDVI. It’s a desk mounted device with a screen that looks a lot like a tablet.

Your team uploads the photographs of authorized people into the FTC1000. It then delivers reliable facial recognition technology. When someone requesting building access walks up to the screen, it will either grant or deny their request, as appropriate.

Even better, the FTC1000 uses artificial intelligence (AI) features to determine whether or not the requester is wearing a mask. If not, it will deny them access until they put on a face covering.

The innovative thing about the FTC1000 for coping with Covid is that it also takes the requester’s temperature. Your team sets the acceptable temperature range, and it grants or denies access to your facility based on the results of a touchless scan.

One question our customers often ask is, “How do staff get notified if someone has an elevated temperature?”

Scanner Suite Integrates with Your Internal Email System

The FTC1000 integrates with your internal email system. It automatically sends email notifications when detecting an abnormal event, such as a requester with a fever or not wearing their mask.

It’s easy to set up. Using a browser, access the FTC1000’s firmware and go to “SMTP Configuration.” Click on the box labelled “Enable email alarm notifications.”

Then click on the box labelled “Attach file” to have the FTC1000 attach a snapshot of the requester to the email message.

Then fill in the blanks for what standard title you’d prefer for these kinds of messages. You can enter up to three email addresses for staff authorized to receive these messages

Your other option is to monitor the space where you’ve installed the FTC1000 in real-time. Using an ethernet network connection, your IT staff can connect the scanner to a personal computer anywhere in your facility.

An operator then monitors the space directly in real-time. They’ll see who enters the building, their temperature and whether they have their mask on. The bottom right corner of this screenshot shows you what they’ll see.
